It’s a tale as old as time. Girl meets boy, she falls madly in love with him, and boy leaves after getting what he wants. WHY. Out of the 7 million people on earth, why did I have to fall for a handsome, hazel eyed devil. He was charming, understanding, and was always down for adventure and heavy make out sessions. It was perfect. He was perfect (minus the troubled past, oh how I love them bad boys). Except he wanted only one thing from me and once he got it, he was never to be heard from again. The real kicker here. He was my coworker (stupid of me right? work relationships never work out). However, my job is seasonal and he left during the summer while I continued to work and stitch back together what was left of my shredded heart. I thought he was never coming back and strangely I took a lot of comfort in that. In fact, the last day I saw him in May, he told me he was going to quit for good (breaking my heart didn’t stop him from acting like we were still friends and nothing ever happened. Apparently I was still someone he thought he could confide in).
So you can imagine my surprise when I was at work today and who other than he walked. in. the. door. If there ever was a man who could wear the hell out of a white t-shirt and jeans and make it look like a million bucks, it was him. He flashed that perfect smile and immediately I was weak. Shaking in fact. There stood before me the boy who made me fall in love with him and swiped my v card like it was a Visa.
"Hey how’s it going."
I forgot how much I had missed the sound of his voice. ”Um..uhh..it’s going pretty good.”
AND HE JUST CONTINUED TO TALK TO ME LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. Like we never loved at all (because truth be told he never did).
So my ex-coworker (and lover) turned coworker again will be working with me this fall/winter/and spring. I have mixed feelings about it but I’m thinking maybe this could be a fresh start between us. Stay tuned to find out on the next episode of boys will ruin your life.
